Noble Central School
824-3817
September 9th, 2008
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. Noble Central is a busy place and I am pleased
to be a part of this team of dedicated educators. The staff at Noble Central is working hard to
prepare for a successful school year.
For this school year to be successful we all need to do our part. Our senior high students
need to be ready and committed to their studies. They need to make decisions that expand their
opportunities for life after high school. They need to take seriously, the advice given to them by
those who have experience and expertise. Success for our middle grade students will depend on
the habits they develop. This includes being on time for classes, working to their potential and
getting involved with the extras offered at Noble Central. For the elementary students their
success simply comes from enjoying what they are learning.
For parents, success will come from supporting their children in all their school activities.
This includes monitoring homework, making sure students get adequate rest and proper nutrition
and keeping informed about what is happening in the class and at school.
The New school year calendar shows Professional Development Days, holidays, etc. Something
to keep in mind for this year; the Fridays shown in grey are Teacher Meeting afternoons.
Students will be dismissed for the weekend at 11:45 a.m.. Please, be aware of those days so that
someone will be home when your child arrives. A special welcome to those students who are
here for the first time and to all those who are returning.

Dress Policy
Noble Central School expects that students will wear
modest clothing suitable for the weather.
Clothes, which advertise alcohol, tobacco, or other items of questionable acceptance in a school, are
not permitted.
Tops should have fronts and backs, should not be see through, and should not have rude or
questionable comments on them.
Please ensure that bare midriffs are not part of the outfit of the day (both girls and boys).
Undergarments should not be seen. Shorts, skirts, or pants need to be of reasonable length and
without holes in embarrassing places.
The school reserves the right
to decide what is deemed acceptable.
Library
The NCS Library will officially open for another school year on Monday, September 15.
Were excited about getting back to the books! Each student has a library card that
enables them to borrow library materials, and they are responsible for taking proper care
of the books and returning them to the library. Most classes have at least one specific
time during the week that they come to the library.
Please help your children read the books that they borrow, and help them understand how
to handle library books. Each elementary student will receive a bag (with a big apple on
it) that should be used for their library books, but once they lose that one, please supply
them with a specific bag to transport library books.
Parents, you are welcome to borrow books from the library as well either for your own
use, or to supplement the number of books that your children borrow. Drop by the library
anytime, and sign up for your free library card. If there are any parents who would like to
volunteer a few hours during the week to help shelve books, please let me know. Or, if
youre ever waiting for your children, and have a little spare time, youre welcome to sit
in the library and read. We subscribe to the Lethbridge Herald, Time and Macleans
newsmagazines, and several other periodicals that you might like to look through. If you
have any questions, please ask.
~Sharon Vander Woude, NCS Librarian
[P.S. Im wondering if there is any interest among parents in forming a Book Club. Let
me know!]
